Cleansed by Love
Christ speaks with Authority into our midst and cleanses the Body of the Church--cleanses us by Love.
Similarly, St Paul does some house cleaning--Now regarding meats offered to idols--and goes very deep. teaching us to think in love; not in pride: Knowledge puffs up, but Love builds up. The pride of thinking we have "the solution" --a technical rather than a pastoral approach.
However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. St. Paul is training our moral imaginations: to look out for those who are weak.
Who are the weak? Our victim culture of weaponized fragility? No, they are the "little ones" who we make to stumble.....But when you thus sin against the brethren and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
Today we ask that Christ would be among us to cast out our pride and possessiveness--teaching us with His words which alone have authority—the power of love.
